FORGIVENESS – TODAY AND FOR EVER
On Saturday 4th June 2016, young people from across the North of England will gather at the Communiy of the Resurrection in Mirfield for a day of worship, prayer and fellowship. We will be exploring the meaning of forgiveness and what it means to seek it from God. More information is available from the pilgrimage website. The day is sponsored by the Community of the Resurrection and the Society of SS Wilfrid and Hilda, Diocese of West Yorkshire and The Dales. The Society in the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales has produced a short study course to support the recently published statements of the Bishops of the Society. This course is well-suited for use in the parish as a way to engage congregations with the issues addressed by the Bishops.
You can download the course here, or purchase it in printed form from the ACS here. The Bishops' Statements can be read here. A presentation by the Bishop of Ebbsfleet on the Statements, given at the recent Forward in Faith National Assembly, can be read here (and listened to here). The Jubilee Year of Mercy begins with the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on 8th December, and will be marked with a celebratory Pontifical Mass at St Helen's Athersley that evening at 7pm. Then, in the afternoon of Sunday 13th December at 3pm, the Bishop of Wakefield will lead an Advent Pilgrimage in the Community Church at Mirfield. Please do join us for either or both of these special events! Bishop Nick will open a six-day long exhibition of knitted Bible stories on 20th November at All Saints's, Elland. More details from the Diocese.
Also, St Helen's, Hemsworth have been celebrating the completion of the monumental restoration of their churchyard wall. More information, again on the diocese's website. The monks of the Community of the Resurrection are holding a house clearance with a difference! Their fundraising auction will take place on April 9th, and they would welcome donations of items. More information from the Huddersfield Daily Examiner. Finally, the charity Acts 435 need with their donation challenge before Children in Need. Read about it here. Do join the parish of St Hilda's, Cross Green, Leeds for their Patronal Festival on Tuesday 17th November at 7:30pm. Refreshments will follow the Mass! More details available on their website.
