On 15 April a meeting of Forward in Faith members was held in Leeds under the chairmanship of the Bishop of Wakefield (the Rt Revd Tony Robinson – formerly Bishop of Pontefract but now one of the area bishops of the new Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales). With the prior agreement of the Council of Forward in Faith, the meeting voted to establish Forward in Faith Leeds (which can also be known, when appropriate, by the longer title of ‘Forward in Faith in the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales’). At the same meeting, votes were taken to wind up the former Bradford and Ripon & Leeds branches. FiF Leeds is the membership organization which will support the work of The Society in the new Diocese.
Dr Colin Podmore Director Bishop Tony will officiate and preach at Solemn Vespers for the eve of Corpus Christi on Wednesday, 3rd June, 7:30pm at St Chad's, Toller Lane. All welcome! If anybody has any young people who would like to take part in a group from out diocese at this year's Walsingham Youth Pilgrimage please see here for some more information and contact Fr Robert Hart SSC as soon as possible, who will try to explain all.
From Easter until Michaelmas, there is a short service of sprinkling at the Holy Well every Saturday at noon. The church will be open for prayer half an hour before this each time.
In addition, on 11th July the annual pilgrimage will take place. This begins with a sung Mass at 2:30pm. This year's preacher is Fr Paul Greenwell SSC, Canon Precentor at Ripon Cathedral. More information about the Holy Well and the pilgrimage can be found at here. In the May issue of New Directions Fr Nicolas Stebbing of the Community of the Resurrection in the Huddersfield Episcopal Area writes about the many ways in which monastic communities can contribute to mission - see page 8.
